I am Nyein Chan Soe. Friends (especially friends from HSU) also call me by my game name, Extreme.

But some people cannot pronounce my Burmese name correctly, so I named myself "Henry", which is inspired by the movie Hardcore Henry lol.

And I am a SOFTWARE ENGINEER.

About me

Here I want to talk a little about myself and how my life trajectory changed over the past few years.

Before I became a software engineer, I was a marketer - actually a digital marketer for about a year. At that time, I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree from a university in Yangon called MIC Now it has become MIU, at late 2018.

I was a Business student there, but I was not really interested back then and mostly spent my time playing Dota 2. I don't want to flex :D, but my highest rank was Divine III Emoticon Ranked Divine Image back then. Good times!

After I graduated from MIC around 2018, I started looking for a job and got an internship at a small private university called Lithan Myanmar, which has now changed its name to Lithan eduCLaaS.

Stupid me, the university taught many kinds of digital skills there, including web development, which I didn't know about or have any interest in at the time.

Anyway, I quit that job after working there for around 4-5 months, and then I got another job at NB$ - Northern Breeze Exchange Service , which was a prominent official money changer in Myanmar, as a Digital Marketing Executive.

How did I become a Marketing Executive?

Because the owner is my mom's friend :]

And I Started Taking Work Seriously....
I worked there for about one year, starting from 2020 until 2021 before the military coup happened in Myanmar.

I created many kinds of reports using Excel and Tableau. I started to enjoy Excel formulas and building small mechanism-like stuff inside spreadsheets.

I created dashboards and some kinds of spreadsheets that the operations employees there might still be able to use later because I added formulas and mini automation stuff. I also helped cross-functional teams whenever they ran into technical problems, like crashed computers or laptops, or when they needed help installing software. Basically, I became the unofficial tech support guy too.

My boss taught me some marketing and digital marketing concepts, but I honestly don't think I had much talent or enough interest in that side of things. For example, he taught me how to place bids for ads on Facebook.

Also my contents were kinda robotic, but I still think my creative ideas were good enough that I could brief some useful designs at that time.

Then COVID came around February 2020.

I still remember the open-market / Hundi exchange rate reaching as low as around 1,280 MMK per dollar. Good times!

Now it's around 1 USD = ~4.2k MMK, August 2026.

Around that time, I started becoming interested in programming because of the spreadsheets and small automations I was building.

I also became interested in data analysis because of Tableau's cool reporting UIs and the data storytelling we used during some meetings.

And because we had to work from home during COVID, I basically had more free time than ever.

So I started learning Python.

Yes, self-study from places like W3Schools, Programiz, and YouTube channels like Corey Schafer and CS Dojo.
